Nurse's Care of Patients And Evidence Based NursingEvidence-based nursing is a concept that has been developed by some of the world's top nurses and researchers, and many other healthcare professionals. It is important to note that the concept of evidence based nursing does not refer to only what is practiced in hospitals and clinical settings but also within the home as well. This article will explain some of the ways that nursing can incorporate this concept into the practice of nursing and how it can benefit patients.
One of the major changes that can occur when nurses implement evidence based nursing is in their care of patients who are in the home care nurse. In a hospital setting, a patient is cared for in a specific area or with certain facilities. But the patient may need to be cared for in a variety of ways. The reasons that patients need to be cared for differently at home will depend on their individual needs. There are many reasons for this type of care and some of them are as follows: Inability to cook. The elderly often require assistance in cooking. Having the proper kitchen equipment can make this easier for the patient but there are some that cannot. For these patients, this can mean a difference in their level of care and the experience they receive while they are there. The ability to take medication and discuss medication with a trained person that can provide behavioral support. Many senior citizens live alone and many require assistance with medications. They may need a bedside nurse to help them get dressed, bathe, and care for themselves. Sometimes, if their caregivers do not have the necessary skills, they may be left without assistance. Each one of these reasons requires a different level of care. The issues are addressed in a different way but, ultimately, each one is very important. When these issues are addressed in a different way, nurses are better able to care for their patients. Ultimately, this allows them to provide a level of care that is more effective and appropriate. With this in mind, it becomes clearer that evidence based nursing can change the overall nurse practice in the home environment as well. Allowing nurses to be more effective in their care of patients allows them to provide a service that is more effective and that is more in tune with the needs of the patient.
